The MenelaionThis shrine was built on the hill of Protitas IIias, of the southeast of Sparta, sits in the plain of the River Eurotas. It is a little nice walk ending on those ancient stones with a great view at Mount Taygetos from Sparta. It is a peaceful and historic place. According to the excavations the existence of it dates back to the 5th century B.C. and contains votive offerings to Helen, which are on the display in the Archaeological Museum of Sparta.

The Koumantareios Art GalleryThe Koumantareios Art Gallery of Sparta, the oldest National Gallery Annex, is housed in a beautiful, magnificent, building donated by the Giannis Koumantarus family. The Koumantareious Gallery houses an important collection of paintings that highlights the history of Modern Greek art, including Spartan art, coming from the National Gallery collection. Educational programmes are also availaible at the gallery, which are very popular with the schools of the entire area.
